Mari fights for the 28thLD and Pierce County Families every day, working urgently to address our communities most pressing issues to include:

  • Childcare:  As a parent, Mari deeply understands the impact that a lack of access to quality and affordable childcare has on families across the 28th and our state. She stands firm in her commitment to addressing the critical issue of childcare by working to increase affordable childcare options, addressing the workforce challenges, prioritizing the safety and well-being of children, youth, and families.

  • Safe Communities: Mari backed benefit improvements for law enforcement, investments in addiction support and recovery, and protections for crime victims. She continues to stand up and address public safety concerns and bring forward solutions working with law enforcement and other organizations.

  • Workforce Development: Mari is Olympia’s leader in workforce training and family wage job creation—rooted in her experience in career and technical education and running a family-owned business. She is committed to a strong economy—and families.

  • Military and their families: Raised in a military home, Mari worked to pass legislation expanding workforce transition, education benefits, behavioral health, and financial protections. She will always stand up for those who serve our nation and their families, and work to increase affordable housing options.

  • Affordable Housing: Mari sponsored and co-sponsored legislation in recent terms and worked with a variety of stakeholders from realtors to low-income housing advocates and jurisdictional partners to identify impactful ways to address critical housing challenges. Mari is committed to continued action on affordable housing.

  • Homelessness: It’s important we build a social safety net so hard times like unemployment or health concerns do not become a pipeline to homelessness. If re-elected, Mari will continue to stand up for solutions to our housing and homelessness crisis in the legislature on this issue. She will continue to be a loud advocate for homelessness prevention.
